Intorduction
The Valuation and Property Management Department is a department which carries out valuation duties for the property tax purposes of all taxable holdings within the Segamat District Council area to contribute income gain revenue through property tax and to manage properties owned by the Council.
Function
- To survey and evaluate new buildings, renovated building additions and building renovations to be imposed with property tax.
- To determine building numbers and street names for the certificate of fitness for occupation applications within the Segamat District Council.
- To entertain objection cases.
- To process title transfer of property tax bills.
- To handle refunds for non-occupied buildings (Remission) under Section 162, Act 171.
- To handle exemption and rate reduction cases.
- To process tax nullification cases and cases of amending building numbers.
- To entertain applications to obtain information on holdings.
- To conduct re-evaluation once every 5 years
- To apply for extension of Valuation List usage and use of rates from the State Local Authority.

- To process property ownership transfer within 5 days only provided that all documents are complete.
- To provide response to all results of property tax objections/pursuits within one (1) month.
